St. Mark Giving Tree

CASA has adopted a new way of giving!

This Advent Season, the St. Mark Giving Tree is changing things up!. CASA is moving toward a more general wish list, which focuses on areas where they have the largest needs and requests, instead of adopting individual, specific families. This year St. Mark members are invited to shop from CASA’s wish list, which will go to stocking up Holiday Central – the place where adults, and their children, can “shop” for holiday gifts.

All of the items collected using the wish list, will go to support the individuals and families living in CASA’s Shelter and participating in their Outreach programming. Last year they served 350 individuals and families, and hope to serve even more this year!

See the list below.

Simply purchase a new gift from the wish list. Return it, unwrapped, and place under the Giving Tree by Sunday, December 9th. All gifts will be delivered in plenty of time for Christmas. All games toys and music must be non-violent.

This year will mark the eighteenth year of St. Mark youth hosting a holiday party at the CASA youth center in St. Petersburg. On December 12, our youth will assist the children in making various holiday crafts and gifts for their families.

The acronym CASA, stands for Community Action Stops Abuse. CASA’s work includes a shelter that houses up to 40 people; community-based support groups; community outreach programs; substance abuse programs; transitional housing (CASA Gateway) and associated programs to assist families as they move toward independent living; as well as development of Peacemakers Program for pre-school and middle school students to help break the cycle of violence.
