Special Offerings
Give to the Ministries of St. Mark
Noisy Offerings
Whenever there are five Sundays in a month, we receive a special offering designated for an outreach ministry. Worshipers bring change (and currency) and drop their gifts into metal buckets to make a joyful noise of generosity.
Some past Noisy Offerings have benefited ELCA Disaster Response, Lutheran World Relief and Hurricane Matthew relief efforts, the ELCA Malaria campaign, the Mission Possible Campaign which was dedicated to the upkeep and expansion of Luther Springs and Lutherock Camps, and Tanzania Missionaries for the building of a children’s hospital in that country.

St. Mark Lutheran Church (SMLC) Dunedin has been blessed with current and past members who have heard the call of God to share the Gospel. Our congregation continues to bloom with members feeling called to serve as rostered ministers in the ELCA, Deacon Jennifer Grumbling.
Learn about Jennifer Grumbling
I grew up in Western Pennsylvania. I was baptized and confirmed in the community of Grace Lutheran Church (Rochester, PA). I was an active member growing up but one of my most memorable experiences was attending the 1991 ELCA National Youth Gathering in Dallas, TX. Maya Angelou was the keynote speaker and she left an indelible mark on my faith. It was during my late teenage years when I first felt the nudge toward the vocation of ministry. A voice and a nudge that has stayed with me throughout my life. Following high school, I attended a Lutheran college in northwestern Pennsylvania, Thiel College, majoring in Business Communications, and I’m also an alumna of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
In 2005, I was offered a promotion at work that gave us the opportunity to relocate to Florida. A couple of years after relocating, and many church visits, we found our church family at St. Mark (2007). One of the most integral parts of my faith journey took place during the two years I spent in the diakonia program (2015-2017). A small group of us spent Saturday mornings at Grace (Tampa, FL.) diving deeper into our faith. I found myself wanting to learn more and wanting to continue our discussions. I definitely began to hear and feel the voice and nudge toward ministry more clearly. It was also during this time, I learned about the opportunity to apply to become a Synod Parish Deacon, and I was commissioned as one at St. Mark in October 2018.
My journey of discernment has led me to begin pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Wartburg Seminary through their Distributed Learning program. Completing the MDiv program will equip me to serve God’s people as a minister of Word and Sacrament. As I continue to discern God’s call for my life, answering and acknowledging God’s call and nudges (pushes is probably more accurate!), I know this is a call that I can no longer ignore or put off ‘until a better time’. There is a world in need; a world that needs to experience the grace and mercy of God. There will never be a better time to share the beauty of Jesus’ love for us through the body and blood. There will never be a better time to proclaim God’s love and BE God’s love to a hurting world. St. Mark has been all of those to me, and to my family; especially being God’s love to us and in the world.
Pack-A-Sack
Pack – A – Sack has been a huge success and beautiful exchange between Discovery Academy and our congregation. The Pack – A – Sack program provides food for families at risk of food insecurity through the charitable efforts of partnering organizations. This past year was of course more complicated by Covid. However, even with restrictions and shifting attendance, we were able to care for between 3 – 15 families each week.
Plans for the 2021-22 school year include providing 15 snack bags per week as requested. The cost is approximately $4.40 per bag for a total of $2640 for the entire school year. Help St. Mark reach this goal.
Discovery Academy is our closest neighbor. We can see the fruit of our efforts to help them with their mission to educate the children in our community. If you would like to donate toward Pack – A – Sack you can write a check and make a note that it is for this program. You can also do this through our online giving.
